Scotch vs Whisky

What is the difference….?
I have heard this question asked many times over the span of my life.
Well, I was sitting at the Madison with a bunch of my friends and two of them were drinking Jameson with a little bit of Ginger ale. The age old question arose again! My buddy Brad has wanted to get into socially drinking Scotch, but didn’t exactly know the difference between Scotch or Whisky. Well, I had enough of just saying…”who knows!”. I went to my trusty friend “Google” and was quickly informed of the differences.
Answer: NOTHING!… Scotch IS Whisky, which is specifically made in Scotland.
This is the only difference between the two terms. There are various types of Whisky… but all these types can also be Scotch. It is a difference in semantics and tradition, that’s all.
I love Google!
I also love wikipedia….. for more info on Scotch (aka Whisky) click here.
